A teenager airlifted to hospital after her car flipped over on a country road has died.

The 18-year-old woman, of Horsforth, who has not yet been named, was driving a black Ford Ka which left the B6161 Pennypot Lane near Beckwithshaw, Harrogate, on Saturday. Fire crews cut the woman out after the car overturned and landed on its roof. She was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary where she was treated for serious injur-ies but died on Boxing Day.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said it was expected that the woman would be formally identified later today.
