PUPILS at Addingham Primary School left their shoes behind on their desks on the last day of term in a bid to help those less fortunate than themselves.
It is the second year pupils at the school have taken part in shoe donations for children in Gambia.
The scheme saw the children take off their school shoes and place them on their desk and leave school barefoot. They also left a 50p donation with the shoes to help with transportation costs.
Headteacher Hilary Cave said: "The whole school leaving barefoot is a powerful message showing that we want to help those fellow school children who have no choice and leave school barefoot every day."
