THE HEIGHT of Everest was scaled on a Leeds climbing wall to raise more than £14,000 for Mind.
A 42-strong team from EMIS Health, which is based in Rawdon, climbed a total of 8,848 metres in less than six hours to raise more than £7,000. That figure was then matched by their company which has adopted Mind as its charity partner. The money will be used for Infoline, a vital resource for people with mental health problems.
The challenge was led by Stuart Davies, EMIS Health programme manager.
“Some people went beyond their comfort zone during the challenge, meeting personal goals as well as the team objective,” he said.
“People worked together as a team and supported each other. Not only that, they did it smiling and laughing. It was a really inspiring day.”
The company is hoping to raise around £50,000 within a year for Mind. In September around 100 fundraisers from EMIS will climb Yorkshire’s Three Peaks in aid of the charity.
