BROWNIES from Pool in Wharfedale and Bramhope joined more than 2,000 youngsters at guiding’s biggest event for young girls.

The 4th Bramhope Brownies rose to the challenge as they took on a series of adventurous activities at the Magic and Mayhem event at Waddow Hall, Girlguiding’s activity centre near Clitheroe in June.

Over the weekend the girls tried a range of activities spread across five themed zones - science, circus, dance, activity and fun. And after adventuring all day the Brownies camped together under a giant big top tent.

One of the Bramhope girls, Martha, aged seven, said: "This was the first time I’ve been camping with Brownies and I loved it. The big top was amazing."

Ellen aged 9, said: "I loved learning how to stilt walk and doing magic tricks. It was so much fun."

Girlguiding UK ambassador, adventurer Anna McNuff, who has travelled all around the world to take on challenges, including cycling along the Andes, attended a Magic and Mayhem event in Hampshire.

She said: "It’s so important for girls to have opportunities to experience the outdoors, have fun and challenge themselves to try things that they wouldn’t get the chance to do elsewhere."
