Traffic was disrupted in Guiseley when a road started to collapse after a water main burst.
A section of road began to give way after the pipe burst at The Green in the early hours of this morning.
The area had to be closed off to allow the main and the road to be repaired.
A spokesman for Yorkshire Water said they had been on site immediately to deal with the burst and that supplies to customers were not affected.
She said: "Unfortunately due to the nature of the burst, damage has been caused to the road which has resulted in The Green being closed.
"Yorkshire Water apologises for any inconvenience caused to customers in the area and is working hard to carry out the repairs.
"The company reacted quickly on being alerted to the burst and managed to re-zone water supplies so that when customers woke up this morning, their supplies were not affected.
"The Green will remain closed while Yorkshire Water carries out the repair and reinstates the road."
