An 11-year-old schoolgirl has appealed for communities to come together to help fight the evil of drugs.
Copies of a poster created by Mehmoona Javid, a pupil at Princeville Primary School in Great Horton, will be dropped through letter boxes in the Bradford South area as part of the ongoing battle.
Pupils throughout the district, including Horton Grange, Farnham and Copthorne primary schools, were asked to design an anti-drugs message as part of a competition organised by West Yorkshire Police and Bradford Council.
Mehmoona, of Preston Street, Great Horton, said: "I hope that because I am young everyone who sees my poster will know that if everyone comes together they can help fight drugs and stop people committing crimes."
Her poster is dominated by the logo: "No drugs. No crime. No waste of time. Simple", and urges householders to call the police if anyone they now is involved in illegal drugs.
Riffat Rabab, a learning mentor at Princeville Primary, said staff at the school had witnessed examples of drug activity in nearby Legrams Lane. She said: "The children know that if they see anything suspicious they can tell the School Council representative and we can take it from there."
PC Fiz Ahmed, schools liaison officer for Bradford South, said pupils had been asked to highlight the anti-drugs message because of problems in the area. She said: "The standard of entries was high, but Mehmoona's poster says it all. It's a simple but good message."
