A mental health charity in Bradford has started an e-mail service to help people suffering mental or emotional distress.
It is hoped the new service, which has been introduced by Mind in Bradford, will enable more people, who are not comfortable talking about their problems either face to face or on the phone, to come forward for help.
The e-mail service complements the charity's existing telephone-based mental health information and support service, which is open from noon to 9pm every day and can be contacted on (01274) 594594.
Mind has been able to set up the new year-long pilot scheme thanks to funding from Bradford and Airedale Teaching Primary Care Trust. It has also introduced a new website at mindinbradford.org.uk which provides full details of all Mind's activities in the district.
The e-mail service will provide support to anyone concerned about their or someone else's emotional and mental health and well-being.
The aim is to ensure people across the district get the right information and support at a time and in the way they find easiest to access.
Adam Greatwood, manager of Mind in Bradford said: "While we promise a quick response to enquiries the e-mail service is not intended to be for people in crisis, they should continue to use existing services.'' It can be accessed via the website or by e-mailing alex@mindinbradford.org.uk.
