Boyband 911 are set to make a sensational comeback after an eight-year absence when they perform before Bradford Bulls' clash with Leeds Rhinos next week.

The trio, Lee Brennan, Jimmy Constable and Simon Spike' Dawbarn, will perform some of their hit singles, including A Little Bit More, The Journey and Body Shakin before the Bulls take the field on Friday, May 23.

Spike, 33, said: "We will be doing all the back-flips again and the break-dancing and we are just going to see if we are still up to it."

After an eight-year career in which they sold more than seven million records and released four albums, the boys announced their split live on radio. Spike said: "We had a number one hit in 2000 and we split on the back of it because we had had enough and were getting a bit bored of travelling - we had been on the road for eight years.

"We are all friends but we just wanted to do different things and now we are really looking forward to getting back to it, especially at Bradford Bulls because I'm a massive fan."

Originally from Warrington, Spike started supporting the Bulls after he set up an entertainment management firm which provides cheerleaders and other pre-match entertainment.

He said: "I have been doing all the entertainment, the cheerleaders and the bands, for The Bulls for the last two years, so I never miss a match in Bradford.

"I will be a bit nervous, because all my friends from Bradford are there and they are all going to have a good laugh at me."

Also singing as part of the pre-match build-up will be 28-year-old mezzo soprano Helen Gregory.

The former Woodhouse Grove School pupil and huge Bulls fan grew up in Bradford before going to study music at Cardiff University.

Helen said: "My husband is a Wigan supporter but I've stayed loyal and I'm still an avid Bulls supporter.

"I contacted them weeks ago to see if they'd be interested in me doing some singing as part of their pre-match entertainment and they asked me to attend last Sunday to see how things went by singing at the Catalans match.

"The response from the crowd was really good, so I'll be making my second appearance next Friday. I was very happy to be able to support the team in my own way."

I know what the actual grammar is, I just said it's unfortunate name, they could held line as nine one one though couldn't they.

I don't think it's any coincidence, or merely an unfortunate choice. They (or their management) have obviously very cynically chosen to exploit the name so as to grab attention and gain maximum publicity, which would be fine if they had any critical rationale or politicized agenda.
I think you will find the name was inspired by the Porche 911, unfortunately they dont sound as good.

It's 911 as it the american emergency services, these were around long before 9/11 (and had also long disappeared!)
I can't say I'm eager with anticipation about their return?!!!

Problem is they started playing about 15 years ago and picked the name then. Nothing to do with the terrible events of 11th September
