A pub is calling on people to help it beat a world wine-tasting record.

The Devonshire on Newmarket Street, Skipton, will join other Wetherspoon pubs across the country in an attempt to get into the Guinness Book of Records.

And on Wednesday, May 21, it will be hoping hundreds of people will come along, taste a free glass of wine and help beat the current record for synchronised wine tasting.

Pub manager Andy Scott said he hoped enough people would turn up to help beat the world record of 5,100 tasters.

"This is a great opportunity for people to be part of a Guinness World Record attempt," he said.

"All they have to do is come to the pub and enjoy a glass of wine at the same time as other customers in Wetherspoon pubs across the UK."

The event will kick off a 19-day wine festival which will run until Sunday, June 8.

suzie, women 'generally' have less body mass than men so the same measure of booze will effect a woman more than a fella.

For example, after 18 pints abloke will have delusions of becoming priminister, where as a woman will probably a, not know where she is, b, look like a deranged panda from crying and c, not be able to find her keys/purse/panties/s
hoes ect ect.

Have it when City are at home, me and about 8 mates will be going to the pub where hopefully there are no Valley Parade stewards. Don't worry, we may drink, but being ex season ticket holders, we will not cause trouble.

Is this promoting responsible drinking or is it just a publicity stunt?
