Bradford South MP and Minister for Sport Gerry Sutcliffe in the new gym at Parkside School
Bradford South MP and Minister for Sport Gerry Sutcliffe has officially opened a £60,000 multi-gym facility at Parkside School in Cullingworth.
It has been set up in two former temporary classrooms and offers a range of equipment.
Children at a number of primary schools in the area, including Cullingworth, now use the equipment on a regular basis.
Steve Bell, partnership development manager based at Oakbank School, said: "Health as well as the PE agenda is very important in the present climate."
Phil Wagner, Bradford Council strategic manager for the PE programme, said funding had been made available through the extended schools programme.
He said: "Inner city areas tend to get lots of money and people's perception is that there is an equal need to provide facilities for children in areas like this."

Mr Sutcliffe said there had never been a better time to be involved in sport with the Olympics in Beijing this year and London in 2012.
"Having such a great sport facility brings a number of benefits including self-esteem and building teamwork," he said.
Getting on that exercise bike is the best thing Gerry has done for a while. Can't help noticing he has become a bit podgy in recent years - too much House of Commons champagne and leisurely lunches out in London's finest restaurants!!!

A complete waste of space. Sutcliffe voted with the government to deny us a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty and he doesnt even bother to answer his constituents emails. Sutcliffe has his nice comfy job earning good money and does little to earn his salary. Never mind the exercise bike, he ought to get on his bike and disappear. Can hardly wait to see him lose his job, roll on the General Election.
