    Villagers urged to step up

Town councillors in Denholme want residents to tell them how they can make things better in the area.

This spring they will send a questionnaire to all villagers asking them to suggest improvements.

They are also holding regular surgeries as well as setting aside time at meetings for public comment.

Mayor Mike Powell said the questionnaire would enable councillors to put effort into the activities people really wanted.

Surgeries will be held on April 5 (9-10am) and April 23 (7-8pm) in the Denholme Mechanics Institute.

Councillor Powell said: "The people of Denholme can make comments to the town councillors at the surgeries.

"Although relatively new it is hoped the more dialogue we have with residents the more we can assist all in the village."

People can also speak at town council meetings on the third Tuesday of the month, and planning meetings on the first Saturday of each month, both in the Mechanics Institute.

Coun Powell said: "Both of these meetings have ten minutes set aside prior to the start of the meeting to receive comments.

"Denholme Town Council, which was formed in 1895, has been in place to help the people of the village in numerous ways."

Councillors can also be contacted on (01274) 833191 or denholmeetc@bradford.gov.uk
