Fast food chain Subway has converted two of its Bradford outlets into Halal stores.

The stores are among the first Halal stores to open in Yorkshire. They serve only a range of certified Halal meats and have banned all pork products.

The two Bradford branches are located in Great Horton Road near the university and on Westgate in the city centre.

Deirdre Anderson, development agent for the chain in Greater Manchester and West Yorkshire, said: "We know there is a very strong demand for Subway stores that provide Halal meats and we are very excited by this development. In the UK, there are seven Halal stores already open that are proving to be very popular.

"The stores are closely tied into the Bradford community in which they operate - and it is important that they reflect what each community needs. The new Bradford stores can now offer our Muslim customers a full range of subs."
