Police sealed off a Bradford park yesterday after a teenage girl claimed she had been assaulted there.
Detectives were examining the scene at Wibsey Park, pictured.
It is understood the girl claimed she had been picked up in a car and taken to the park where the attack took place.
Officers were interviewing the girl yesterday to establish whether the alleged assault was physical or sexual.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesman confirmed they were called to the park after 6.30am to a report that a 16-year-old girl had been assaulted.
The spokesman said: "The girl is being spoken to by specially-trained officers and an investigation into the incident has been launched. Inquiries are at an early stage.
"We ask anyone who has seen any suspicious activity in Wibsey Park, early yesterday morning or overnight, to call us on 0845 6060606."
