Mecca Bingo in Bradford was today thanked by Brenda Doyle from Marie Curie Cancer Cure for helping to raise £420,000 over the last two years.
The club is one of 98 Mecca clubs across the UK which took part in fundraising activities for the charity, which provides free nursing care for terminally ill people in local communities across the UK.
The total raised by all the clubs brings the overall amount to nearly £650,000 raised by the Rank Group PLC, whose portfolio includes Grosvenor Casinos Blue Square as well as Mecca Bingo. The company has also announced today that it will be supporting Marie Curie Cancer Care throughout 2012 and is aiming to raise £1 million by the end of the three-year period.
Peter Campbell, general manager of Mecca Bradford, said: “I’ve been so impressed with the drive and enthusiasm the team members have shown.”
Marie Curie’s Brenda Doyle said the support from members and customers had been “fantastic”.
