Food Bank in appeal for tinned goods

A call has gone out for people to buy extra tinned food to donate to the Bradford Metropolitan Food Bank.

The Food Bank, based at The Light Church in North Street in the city centre, is short of tinned tomatoes and tinned fruit.

It is a small registered charity, entirely run by volunteers, which receives donations of non-perishable foods from the community and small businesses, to give free of charge to organisations working with vulnerable people in need.

It distributes food parcels to organisations working with the vulnerable and provides five or six food parcels every day to people across the district, which amounts to 2,100 food parcels a year.
