Appeal for witnesses to ‘theft’ incident

Good Samaritans who helped chase a suspected thief through Bradford city centre are being sought by police.

Two girls were seen on CCTV chasing the suspect of an alleged purse snatch in the Upper Piccadilly or Rawson Square area at 3.55pm on Friday, January 27.

A group of Asian men also then gave chase and stopped the man, after chasing him onto Dale Street. Stolen property has been recovered.

A 27-year-old man has been arrested in the Sunbridge Road area on suspicion of theft and has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Now PC Martin Kitson, of Bradford South Police, wants the Good Samaritans to get in touch.

He said: “It is vital we hear from those good Samaritans.

“These men and the girls who gave chase may be able to assist us in this inquiry and bring our investigations to a successful conclusion.

“We also need to hear from the victim, as they are also central to discovering the full circumstances.”

Anyone with information can call the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
