The Liberal Democrat group has asked Bradford Council to make sure any further discussion regarding the city’s waste management plant, which had its funding pulled last month, is brought before all councillors.
Councillor Alun Griffiths (Idle and Thackley) has submitted a White paper Motion to go before the Council’s full meeting on March 26.
The £300 million, 25-year contract to deal with household waste across Bradford and Calderdale was left in tatters after a shock 11th hour Government announcement that credit funding was no longer available for the project.
Coun Griffiths said: “I have also asked a question to the portfolio holder, Councillor Andrew Thornton, asking for an update on the situation – this will give us a written update a few days out of date. If I get the chance to ask a supplementary question we should have a verbal update on the position on the day of the meeting to inform the debate on the motion.”
The motion reads: “This Council notes the withdrawal of PFI credits for the Waste Management Project and requires that any decision to proceed with an amended project on another financial basis is debated and made at full Council.”
