Yeadon Westfield Junior School will be digging for victory very soon as their new vegetable garden nears completion.

Children at the New Road school intend to grow a variety of fruits and vegetables which will be shared at break in their healthy tuck shop, Frooti Tooti.

Class teacher Mary Jaciuch said: "As they aim to go green they will compost and recycle rainwater and reuse it in their garden learning the importance of sustainability.

"The garden has been constructed with the help of Yorkshire Water and their One Million Green Fingers project, an initiative that encourages schools to utilise their outdoor space as a learning environment.

"The garden further compounds the schools commitment to being a happy, healthy school."
