Conscientious youngsters at Shipley's High Crags Primary School joined Bradford Council street wardens to clean up their neighbourhood.

Year Four pupils, including Chloe Williams and Riley Rushworth, middle, and Adam Page and Luke Hardy, front, donned fluorescent yellow jackets and gloves to take part in a litter pick on streets surrounding the school.

They are pictured with PC Derek Kormoczi, PCSO Chris Pendle, Joanne Smith from Streets Ahead, left, and Councillor Vanda Greenwood.

Head teacher Gill Roberts said: "A few pupils had been out the week before to carry out a visual audit before the litter-pick took place.

"It was all about allowing them to take ownership and responsibility for the area. Unfortunately it rained throughout but they all enjoyed themselves! The importance of the environment is a constant message throughout school."

The pupils' efforts formed part of a district-wide clean-up which took place throughout east Shipley.
