People are being encouraged to work off their extra Christmas calories and raise money for a good cause by taking part in Bradford’s fourth annual 10k run for Epilepsy Action.
Entry is now open for the race, which is expected to see more than 1,000 people pounding the city’s streets on Sunday, March 20.
Since the race was first held in 2008, it has raised more than £82,000 for the Yeadon-based national charity.
The route, which starts and ends in Centenary Square, is mostly flat and will be closed to all traffic which makes it an ideal course for first-time runners and elite athletes looking to achieve a personal best time.
The run is supported by the Airedale Athletics squad, who will be running training clinics in the lead-up to the event.
Funds raised by the event will go to Epilepsy Action, which last year directly helped more than 688,000 people through a range of services, including its free Epilepsy Helpline on (0808) 8005050, and its website epilepsy.org.

Katie Stocks, fundraising events officer at Epilepsy Action, said: “We’ve been overwhelmed by the support people in Bradford have given to this event and it continues to go from strength to strength.
“We hope this year will be no exception. This is a great event for runners of all abilities. With more than a thousand runners taking to the streets, there is always a fantastic atmosphere and sense of occasion.
“The money raised from this event is vital in helping us support people with epilepsy, an often overlooked and misunderstood condition.”
There are prizes to be won for both males and females placed first, second and third, and for winners of the veterans’ categories.
A free T-shirt will be provided to everyone who completes the race and refreshments will be available throughout the day.
Entry costs £16, or £14 for runners affiliated to a UK athletics running club.
For more information or to sign up, visit epilepsy.org.uk/involved/brad ford10k, or call the fundraising team on (0113) 2108800.
The closing date for entries is Sunday, March 13.
