Epilepsy Action is inviting Bradfordians to make a new year’s resolution to start shedding the Christmas pounds by training for it’s 10k city run.

More than 1,000 people are expected to compete in the third annual race, on Sunday, March 21, which starts and finishes in Centenary Square.

The mostly flat course will appeal to first-time runners and elite runners hoping to achieve personal best times.

The run is supported by Bradford Council’s b-active campaign and the Airedale Athletics squad, who will be holding training clinics to help runners prepare.

Katie Stocks, fundraising officer at Yeadon-based Epilepsy Action, said: “This is the third year we’ll be running the event and it is now a permanent fixture in the annual race calendar.

“It is a fantastic event and we hope as many people as possible will sign up.

“It’s always heart-warming to see the runners on the day, sharing personal stories and putting in their best efforts to raise valuable funds for our charity.”

There are prizes to be won for men and women placed first, second and third, and for winners of the veterans’ categories. Entry is £16, or £14 for runners affiliated to a UK athletics running club.

The race last year raised £25,000 for Epilepsy Action to support people living with epilepsy.

As well as campaigning to improve epilepsy services and raise awareness of the condition, the charity offers assistance to people in a variety of ways, including a national network of branches, accredited volunteers, regional conferences and a national helpline – 0808 8005050.
