Time is running out for people to sign up to take part in the Bradford Epilepsy Action 10k race.

More than 900 people have signed up so far – almost double the amount that took part last year – and people are being encouraged to enter before all 1,250 places are filled.

The deadline for entries is March 22 and the run will take place on Sunday, March 29.

Katie Stocks, fundraising events manager at Epilepsy Action, said: “Turnout this year has been fantastic. People are signing up much faster than last year, “There are only a couple of weeks left so people need to get their applications in.

“We found that last year’s event was really popular with first time runners and also elite runners. It’s a flat course so its good for personal-best times.

“We’ve had fantastic feedback and lots of people who ran last year have signed up again.

“This event is fast becoming a permanent fixture in the annual race calendar.”

The route begins and ends at Bradford city centre’s Centenary Square, heading down Canal Road towards Frizinghall and back.

The road race was held for the first time last year and raised more than £12,000 for the Yeadon based charity.

Katie said: “Epilepsy is a complex neurological condition and all the money raised from the Bradford 10k will help to fund our essential services, such as our helpline, specialist epilepsy nurses, and our advice and information service.”

Prizes will be awarded for male and female first, second and third places as well as veterans.

There will be free T-shirts for all competitors and refreshments will be available on the day.

It costs £15 to enter, or £13 for those affiliated to an athletics club.
