Hundreds of runners are expected to flock to Bradford and race through the city's streets in aid of Epilepsy Action in the second annual Bradford 10k run.
People are invited to follow in the footsteps of last year's runners, who raised more than £12,000 in the road race.
This year's run on Sunday, March 29, has been organised by national charity Epilepsy Action which has its head office in Yeadon and is the UK's largest member-led charity.
It is supported by the Telegraph & Argus, Bradford Council's B-active campaign and the Airedale Athletics squad.
The run will begin and end at Bradford city centre's Centenary Square, heading down Canal Road towards Frizinghall and back.
It will cost £15 to enter, or £13 for people who are affiliated to a UK athletics club.
Organisers say because the route mainly covers flat ground it will be a fast race and ideal for elite runners and first-timers alike.
The route will be closed to traffic and runners' times will be recorded using a chip system. People will be able to receive their result by text message on the day and can receive computerised results within 24 hours.
The times to beat from last year's runners are 31 minutes and 38 seconds by race winner Willy Smith, and Sarah Graham who was the first lady home in 37.54.
Philippa Corner, Epilepsy Action's fundraising events manager, said: "We were overwhelmed by the popularity of last year's race, but judging by the interest we've had so far, this year's is set to be massive.
"We're already expecting around 1,000 entrants and this means the spaces are limited so anyone wanting to take part should hurry to secure their place.
"Now a permanent fixture on the city's events calendar, the Bradford 10k is a run the city can be proud of. It's a great way to get fit in the new year, while also raising money for such a worthy cause. So, get your running shoes on and join in the fun."
Prizes will be awarded for male and female first, second and third places as well as veterans. There will be free T-shirts for all runners and refreshments will be available on the day.
For those wishing to join in but feel they need practice beforehand, training clinics and year-round running support is provided by Airedale Athletics Club.
The Council's B-active campaign was set up more than four years ago to encourage all of Bradford's residents to be more physically active regardless of their age or ability, to raise awareness of the benef its of regular exercise and to develop new and improved sports facilities across the district.
Bradford Council's executive member for environment and culture, Coun Anne Hawkesworth, said: "The 10k run is a great opportunity for residents to get fit, take part in a fun run and, most importantly, raise some vital funds for the charity. With the event taking place in March, it gives people plenty of time to start training and get fit to take part."
