Delivery offices closure is dreadful

SIR – The shock news that the Royal Mail is to close three delivery offices (T&A, February 14) is quite dreadful. They are all located within the Shipley constituency and leave not only the 67,000 electors but also the full constituency population, perhaps as many as 80,000 bereft of local contact with a delivery office.

SIR – The death of former Bradford headmaster Ray Honeyford (T&A, February 11) allows us to reflect on what he had to say, and consider that perhaps much of his comment has proved to be correct.

SIR – I was saddened to read the news that the former Fattorini’s store is to close in the city centre, ending an association going back to 1846. Yet another element of Bradford's heritage is lost forever.

SIR – Jo Winrow reported in her article, ‘Maintenance work starts on Odeon’ (T&A, February 11) that “the [Odeon’s] roof need[s] to be repaired to prevent water from entering, which if unchecked would pose a risk to the steel frame [of the building]”.

SIR – About 18 months ago, I asked Bradford Highways Department to consider putting a short time delay, say ten to 15 seconds on the lights at Four Lane Ends junction before they turn to green, to enable people to cross.
