We’re not to blame
8:53am Wednesday 18th July 2012 in Readers' letters By Telegraph & Argus
SIR – Keith Rayner says man is to blame for the recent floods because nowadays people want to live in a detached home, which collect four times the water of a terraced house, and take baths daily instead of weekly, which means seven times the amount of water going down the plughole, with it all ending up in the rivers (T&A, July 12).
Is he not aware that some areas had a month’s rainfall in a few hours, with even grassland and woodland becoming saturated, causing billions of gallons of excess water to pour into the rivers?
Mother Nature is the one to blame, Mr Rayner.
