SIR – Councillor David Green shows usual ineptitude with the remark he made in the story of the closure of Thomas Cook, on the latter’s statement that its Bradford office cost more per desk than those in Falkirk and Peterborough (T&A, June 14). His words “whatever that means” sum up his ability to enter into negotiations with anybody.
Even I know what the company meant, and the leader of the Council should be wondering how many other companies are going to close up shop because of high rents demanded by his Council, instead of asking, as he did of Cook’s predicament, “why didn’t they approach us about their rent?” Talk about bolting the proverbial door!
