Wonderful weekend

SIR – Again we see community spirit coming to the fore at this week’s 1940s weekend.

I would like to send my thanks and congratulations to all involved. I thank the work of all the volunteers, residents of Haworth, as well as statutory bodies, for putting together an example that Haworth can be proud of.

On a more personal note as an ex-soldier, I was extremely pleased to see the amount of cap badges in respect of the Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers, and a distinct lessening in numbers in German uniforms from the 1940s.

An excellent weekend. Well done and many thanks.
