SIR – I would like to place on record a heart-felt thank you from everyone at Darley Street and Girlington Specsavers to all our customers who came into the stores to sponsor Bradford marathon runner Anastasia Lincoln in the run up to the London Marathon. Our staff were keen to help Anastasia raise as much money as possible for Macmillan Cancer Support as a thank you for being a loyal Specsavers customer for more than ten years.
Anastasia did everyone who sponsored her proud by completing the 26.2-mile race in five hours, 54 minutes and four seconds. At the age of 57, this was Anastasia’s 30th marathon, which makes her achievement on Sunday all the more amazing.
Anastasia is still collecting donations, but thanks to the generosity of the people of Bradford, she has raised more than £800 so far. All the money she raises will help Macmillan to continue to improve the lives of people affected by cancer.
