SIR – Just six weeks to go now, and no news yet of the celebrity who will have the considerable honour to open the City Park.

Bradford lad Dynamo is very keen to promote his own city, and would be a popular crowd-pleaser. He could perform one of his magical feats, like walking on the River Thames – a huge attraction.

However, we’re more likely to finish up with an act from Labour Councillor David Green, with his own magical belief that the City Park will be the springboard for regeneration and economic recovery.
