SIR – Re ‘Sparkling diamond year gets under way’ (T&A, January 6).
Keighley Town Council was delighted to host the first official event to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee. The Civic Service held at the Keighley Shared Church on Sunday, February 5, was well-attended, despite the inclement weather.
Town Mayor Councillor Tony Wright expressed his thanks to the Rev Peter Mott for his organisation of the event in collaboration with the Town Council, Dr Judy Blezzard for conducting the ‘Come and Sing’ Choir with Brenda Brown on the organ and the sermon by the Rev Canon Malcolm Grundy, former Archdeacon of Craven, and to the officers of the Town Council for the organisation of the refreshments which were well-received by all.
Mrs M E Bailey, town clerk, Keighley Town Council, Town Hall, Bow Street, Keighley
