Poppy Appeal raises £22,500

SIR – I would like to send thanks, via your newspaper, to all those who donated to the Poppy Appeal in the South Bradford area.

The Low Moor and Wyke branch of the Royal British Legion collected a total in excess of £22,500. My branch colleagues cannot thank them all enough, from the largest donation to the smallest it was a magnificent effort. As always the money will be wisely spent helping our ex-service personnel who need us, from the Second World War veterans’ right up to the present day Afghanistan wounded. We look after any ex-service personnel and their families no matter what age.

I would also like to thank the small army of helpers who braved the wind and cold to stand at the supermarkets (Tesco’s Halifax Road, Morrison’s Rooley Avenue, and Asda Dudley Hill) taking the donations the good people of south Bradford made.

If anyone reading this letter thinks they might be able to help us next year (I’m asking for three hours of your time) please feel free to contact me on (01274) 604140. Any time you can give us will be much appreciated.

We are also in need of a new Poppy Appeal Organiser for our branch, as our old one has had to relinquish the post due to ill health. If you think you have the time and are organised and have an eye for detail please give me a call to discuss.

Thank you.

C A Robinson, JP, chairman, Low Moor & Wyke branch of the Royal British Legion, Cedar Drive, Wyke
