SIR – With reference to the letter from T Free on dog fouling in Roberts Park (T&A, February 2). I wholeheartedly agree with him.
I’ve been groundsman at Saltaire Cricket Club for more than 20 years. I put up with owners exercising their dogs on the cricket field on a daily basis, and letting them foul. I’ve got to the stage now where I let them get on with it.
If you ask them to respect the cricket field, they reply with really foul language and abuse. I just go and pick up the mess. You see dogs out of control.
I must point out that the gardeners in the park do a fantastic job keeping the park very clean and tidy. Dog owners let the dog run through the flower beds and on the gardens.
It is a shame when there is a piece of land next to the cricket field where they can run free. So I call for Bradford Council to ban all dogs from sports fields in the district and keep them on leads in public parks and pathways.
