SIR – I note that right-wing Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg thinks that John Lewis should act as a model for the British economy.
No doubt its shops sell good-quality goods at a price. It is also, of course, a partnership and hence has no trade union recognition.
Whether Clegg even realised this might be a concern and an issue I rather doubt.
