SIR – Why has Coun Slater turned what was an issue about people attempting to protect the green spaces in this tiny country into a class war?
Is she saying that only middle-class people object to the building of homes on what, in the main, seems to be greenbelt land? Does she have some sort of axe to grind with the middle class?
I object to the building of houses on many of the sites she and her cohorts have identified and I don’t consider myself to be middle class, more working class.
In my opinion this issue is nothing to do with class and everything to do with people trying to protect the dwindling green spaces for future generations to enjoy. It seems to me that Coun Slater is proud of the fact that she is to become unpopular.
She appears to have already decided where the sites for future homes will be, this despite the fact that the consultation for the Local Development Framework is only just commencing.
Coun Slater has picked mainly greenbelt in the mistaken idea that only the “middle class” will fight for it.
