SIR – It will be the Grand National horse race tomorrow. If we are a nation of animal lovers, isn’t it time this race was finally ended?
Horse racing allows legal whipping of horses, which is bad enough, but to put them in a race which in the past has been littered with fatalities calls in to question its moral and ethical continuation.
It would be a nice public gesture instead of giving money to bookmakers to support horse sanctuaries like Roleystone Sanctuary at Wrose.
