SIR – Oh dear! Labour’s chairman in Bradford East, Ronnie Fieldhouse, really appears confused.
I’m surprised to be personally accused of denying that the Lib Dems have any role in putting right the mess left by the last Labour Government. Clearly we do.
While we may have to compromise and go along with some proposals that we don’t entirely like, I believe that we have been instrumental in guiding the Tories as a whole along a more moderate path.
In comparison, many of the more left-wing Labour MPs have gone along with hated New Labour policies over the past 12 years, without the strength of character to complain.
Why don’t Lib Dems resign from Government? Well, Ronnie, your ramblings are no reason to do anything of the sort.
If you really don’t agree with the Lib Dems governing with the Tories, you should ask your party’s leadership why they refused to accept responsibility themselves in their haste to run away from the mess they had left.
Labour’s hope to rest and reform and come back stronger to win the next general election depends on enough people forgetting the mess they had made.
I wonder how many Telegraph & Argus readers will do so?
