Meat is a vital industry

SIR – May I point out, once again, to Viva’s Justin Kerswell that if everybody turned veggie, there would be no lambs for him to worry about (Letters, March 26).

What sane farmer would breed sheep if their wool and meat have no commercial value? Our countryside would be bleak.

Thankfully, his ‘bleating’ is not going to convert many to vegetarianism, but I do hope efforts continue to help make the life of all animals as pleasurable as possible.
