SIR – The letter from John Cook (March 6) is very correct and we endorse it completely. Bradford Odeon Rescue Group advised Yorkshire Forward on the internal roof water downpipes, which flood completely the upper floor on the Princess Way elevation.
This has damaged plaster ceilings, rotted carpets and timber floors, which are now in an awful state, and also soaking through the brickwork leaving an awful external appearance.
Nothing was done by YF. We then instructed Bradford Building Office to serve a legal notice on YF using Government law powers. We also advised of rainwater running across footpaths with danger in winter of frozen ice to pedestrians. Again, nothing was done, only a telephone call to us to advise us that the Council has insurance in the event of any claim!
YF were advised by building control that a few soffit boards were loose under one of the canopies needing simple fixing with a few annular nails. YF promptly had all the external canopies removed, robbing the public of shelter and making the building more unsightly.
How a public body such as Yorkshire Forward, funded by public money, can get away with all this and more, beggars belief.
