SIR – Linda Pollard, the deputy chairman of Yorkshire Forward, commenting on the (supposed) regeneration of Bradford city centre (T&A, February 10), said that the people of Bradford “should be the authors of its next chapter”.

Fine words, but unfortunately the actions of her organisation show exactly the opposite.

As she is very well aware, many Bradford residents want the Odeon building to be retained and refurbished, and do not like its proposed replacement, New Victoria Place. That Yorkshire Forward has taken no account of this tells us all we need to know.

If Ms Pollard really does mean what she says, then now is the time to go back to the drawing board and let the people of Bradford have the final say on this and any other issues. After all, it is our city, not Yorkshire Forward’s.
