SIR – Today I received another marketing leaflet from my local friendly Lib Dem candidate David Ward.

Yet again this leaflet talks about my little-known London-based Labour MP, who has failed the local people.

My local MP, Terry Rooney (pictured), is not unknown to me and I understand that he does not have a London property and is therefore not London-based.

May I also point out that Bradford’s immediate problems cannot be laid at Mr Rooney’s door as Bradford has a Conservative-run council with Lib Dem support. It is this council that sold the land to Westfield and is responsible for the ensuing denigration of the city.

It is this council that is responsible for the Odeon debacle and it is this council that, as the deputy leader of the Liberal Democrats, Mr Ward is in part responsible for, despite his claims to the contrary.

Mr Ward, your marketing spin is not persuading me – some real action from my local Lib Dem councillors might!
