SIR – Our city leaders should surely be proud that The Theatres Trust consider that the Odeon cinema is a landmark and significant building for which a new sympathetic use with further enabling development should be found.

As such, surely both the Council and Yorkshire Forward, the owner of the building, also being well aware that this opinion is shared by a huge number of people in Bradford, should be doing all that they can to bring such a wish to fruition.

We all know that the Bradford Odeon Rescue Group has just such a proposal on the table. How much longer do we have to wait before the above organisations actually act on the wishes of the people who pay their wages?

That nothing seemingly is being done in this regard at the moment simply heaps shame on both bodies, who seem intent on ignoring public opinion and carrying on with their “we know best” agendas.

The message now appears to be hitting home at parliamentary level that this is not the way forward. When will that same message become apparent to our Council leaders and those who run the various quangos?
