Clean up bad habits

SIR – Yesterday, I decided to make my journey into Leeds by train instead of using my car.

The return concessionary rate from Keighley to Leeds of 70p was indeed an absolute bargain as the train was spotlessly clean, the air conditioning was on, which was welcome on a hot sunny afternoon, and the whole journey was a quick and pleasant one for which National Rail should be congratulated.

What a pity some passengers show a total disregard for our public transport system.

I refer to a young lady who also got on at Keighley, sat opposite across the aisle to me and thought this would be a good time to rest her weary feet by placing them on the seat directly in front of her.

Immediately in front of her, and in full view of her, a notice in bold lettering was asking passengers not to place their feet on the chairs.

I am pleased to say she got off at Crossflatts, probably on her way home to put her feet up once again.

She may think twice next time if Northern Rail hit her with a hefty fine as they rightly should do.
