SIR – Why the uproar because Tesco wish to erect a supermarket on the old cattle market site in Bingley?
The people of the town should be glad that another supermarket desires to move into the town, taking away from the Co-op the monopoly that it has currently. True there is a bus that takes you to a larger store but, again, it is the Co-op.
Personally I am surprised that Tesco/Sainsbury, bearing in mind the empty properties, have not come in with an ‘Express-style’ shop. Just let another supermarket come in and the Co-op will know what it is to face competition.
