City should be a powerhouse

SIR – Yorkshire has been in the news a lot lately for one thing and another, but the two news stories that have caught my attention have been that there are a lot fewer jobs around for teenagers as well as the mature experienced workers losing their jobs.

Now it would seem that Leeds’s economy seems to be slowing down with shops going out of business and building projects put on hold. Leeds was supposedly the powerhouse of the North for building and jobs, and now it seems to be going down the same road as Bradford!

But should it be time now for Bradford to move forward in building and refurbishing new shops in the city centre and the old warehouses in Bradford to create new jobs, despite how the economy is at the moment?

What is Yorkshire Forward and the Council doing to get new businesses and jobs for Bradford? Let Bradford be the powerhouse of Yorkshire once again.
