SIR – I was interested to read (T&A, June 17) the article about how bus company First is making its vehicles more environmentally friendly.

It is a shame you did not ask them whether all the effort being put into these environmental measures is aimed at offsetting the pollution that will be caused by the extra cars forced on to the road by the company’s widespread service cuts.
