What an event!

SIR – I just wanted to say what a fantastic community event I visited at Idle Recreational Ground.

The weather was scorching, there were plenty of free things to entertain the children (bouncy castles, face painting and an array of sports such as swing ball and hula hoop) and it was generally very well organised.

My only quibble would be the lack of advertising for the event. I happened to see a small poster in a shop window in Thackley (somewhere I don’t usually visit).

It would be good to think this event could be an annual occurrence, perhaps replacing the Idle Tide, which in recent times could only have dreamed of getting as many visitors as this week’s event.
