SIR – The observation by Norman H Barwick (T&A, June 29) that his own village of Wilsden does not seem to get its fair share of Council attention, will certainly be echoed in all the other peripheral towns and villages of the district.
I’m sure our beloved Council will dispute that commonly-held view, but there is a very simple way they could prove it one way or the other.
If Bradford Council were to publish each year, in the interests of openness and transparency, a simple list showing the percentage of council tax collected from each postcode and, alongside that, the actual percentage of the Council’s total expenditure in each postcode, that would settle it once and for all. Call me an old cynic if you must, but I somehow don’t think they would dare publish that. However, a Freedom of Information Act request might just focus their minds?
