New office blocks must fit in with city centre
SIR - I am sure that most people will be glad to see the back of the remaining half of the old Tyrls police station (pictured).
We now seem to have an outline design for its replacement by three office blocks (T&A, September 29).
Alan Hall, chairman of Bradford Civic Society, is in favour of the site’s redevelopment, and rightly states that the new building must fit in.
That comment is by far the most important issue about any proposal for this prime site.
Will the blocks complement City Hall, the Alhambra Theatre and a refurbished Odeon?
That has to be almost universally agreed, or the plans will simply not be acceptable.
