SIR – Just a line to congratulate the Alhambra on its 100 years and also on the wonderful show last week and all the artists who took part as a celebration.
But we must not forget the theatre was home to amateur societies and stage and dance schools in the 1970s, 80s, 90s, and also in the time before refurbishment it was these societies that helped keep the theatre open doing centenary concerts and showstoppers – not to mention Llaidler tributes. All this contributed to our wonderful theatre we call our Jewel in the Crown.
Long may it continue.
