SIR – The collective leaders of our numerous NHS trusts have agreed that because of coalition Government policies inflicted on our health services the NHS will be £1 billion in the red by the end of the year.

Do your readers know that in the financial scheme of things £1 billion is trivial?

So trivial in fact that while failing in his plan to eliminate our debt by next year George Osborn actually increased the debt himself.

On Monday, September 1, he lifted Network Rail’s £36 billion debt and placed it on us instead of leaving it with a private company thereby adding at least two more years on the debt elimination period.

If the Government can write off Network Rail’s debt do you agree they must write off the NHS’ debt?
